Meet Grandpa Gustavson, or Gus as his patron decided he shall forevermore be called. We're pretty weird about names around here. It drives our vet's office batty 😂. In a lot of cases, we don't know their names and are forced to give them new ones. Sometimes, their names just don't fit or may be reminiscent of a bad time in their lives, so a new identity is necessary. And sometimes their name is their name and their identity, and it all sticks. But when our first big donation came from a beloved supporter who has become a friend and Rescue hero, we decided that they were to have naming rights for the next kid who joined HPF in need of a new name. They were nervous. It's a lot of pressure to choose an identity, especially for someone you've never met. So when our son had the Grumpy Old Men idea, it rung a bell for them. And then there were some other Gus related signs that happened to happen to them. And it fits. It's who he is. I mean, look at those photos! He even has the knee-high black socks to go with sandals 😂.
